Definición
In senior care, Home health care refers to doctor-ordered skilled care at home, such as nursing or therapy, usually after illness or surgery.
A physician or allowed practitioner must certify medical necessity. Visits are typically time-limited — for example after a hospital stay — and focus on recovery, wound care, medication management, or therapy goals rather than long-term personal care.
Medicare Part A or B may cover qualifying home health when the patient is homebound and needs intermittent skilled services. This is separate from hiring a private aide for daily living help.
